Hello all newcomers and early medieval enthusiasts, I’m so happy you’re here!

This blog will be focusing primarily on my experiences and studies as a PhD student at Cambridge, in the department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic. Is this mostly a way to keep myself accountable and ensure that I’m always writing something? Probably, but at least I can say I’m attempting public outreach!

Rambles will include (but not be limited to):

  • My day to day manuscript studies, work in palaeography and codicology

  • Anglo-Saxon religious history, but specifically:

    • Bede and his contemporaries

    • Sacred space and church architecture

    • Hagiographies (where I will primarily bitch about St Wilfrid, to be honest)

  • Book reviews

  • Observations (and rants) on UK Higher Education

Feel free to come along for the ride as I delve into the wonderful world of early medieval spirituality.
